Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited


Dorothy Sylvester, Founder  
Having enviable credits in dance, Dorothy has entertained audiences with some of the finest names of stage, television and film and has appeared with many celebrities. Her professional travels have taken her throughout the United States, to Canada and Europe. Her dedication, teamed with the excellent teaching staff, has helped fulfill her goals of giving each student the personal and individual attention needed to achieve their full potential. Dorothy is retired from the studio, but returns for our recital each year.

Karyn Fowler, Owner (Tap)

Karyn Fowler is the owner and director of Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited. She began her dance career at age seven and has traveled extensively studying with top instructors in the country, including Hank Crabtree. If you have any questions, Karyn is the person to contact.

Kiley Baldwin (Ballet)  

Kiley Baldwin studied ballet for 15 years under Lisa Boehm in Elgin, performing “The Nutcracker” every year at the Hemmens Cultural Center.  Kiley also went on to study with The Milwaukee Ballet Company for two summers with performances at The Pabst Theatre.  She has taught ballet at various Chicagoland studios.  Her profound appreciation for the grace and technique of the art will be passed on to the students here.  Kiley looks forward to sharing her passion for ballet with all who attend.

Amanda Bremberg (Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz)
Amanda began dancing ballet at Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited in 1994 and soon expanded into jazz, tap, and modern. She later studied at Salt Creek Ballet, Lou Conte Dance Studio, and completed a summer intensive program at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. She danced with her high school dance team, orchesis, and in several roles in the Schaumburg Nutcracker. As an adult, Amanda joined Midwest Dance Collective and had an opportunity to collaborate with exceptional, and diverse, choreographers. She's experienced in working with adult learners and has also spent more than eight years volunteering with at-risk youth.

T'Lyn Candella (Contemporary, Creative, Hip Hop, Intro To Dance, Jazz)
T'Lyn has been part of the Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited family since she was three years old first as a student, then as a student demonstrator, and now as a teacher. She has studied tap, ballet, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, modern, and acrobatics, and enjoys all styles of dance. In high school T'Lyn was on the Lake Park Lancettes for four years, and she went on to coach a high school dance team that took fourth place in State competition. T'Lyn continued dancing while attending Dominican University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. We are thrilled to have T'Lyn on the staff!

Donna Johnson (Jazz, Tap)

Donna Johnson has been teaching dance for the past thirty years. She is the Artistic Director of the "Steppin' Out" Dance company. Her dancers are regional and national dance champions. In 2015 her dance team won the Association of Dance Competitions and Conventions studio Excellence Award. She has trained in all areas of dance but her expertise and passion is in tap.

Her routines are always showstoppers and we love having Donna on our staff.

Kaitlin Koncilja (Creative, Hip Hop)
Kaitlin Koncilja is a senior at North Central College majoring in psychology and Japanese who hopes to conduct research involving criminal psychology in the future. Starting classes at the age of three, although not arriving at Dorothy's until 2008, dance has always been one of her deepest passions. Primarily, she loves how dance allows a person to become a visual representation of music and connect emotion and story with movement. In the past ten years at Dorothy's, Kaitlin has studied ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, tap, and contemporary, has been part of the performance team the Dansations, and has worked as a student demonstrator. She is thrilled by the opportunity to experience the studio from a new perspective and cannot wait to meet her students!

Ashley Lanham/Watson (Creative, Hip Hop, Intro To Dance, Lyrical, Musical Theatre)

Ashley Lanham-Watson has grown up dancing, student demonstrating, and teaching at Dorothy’s Dancing Unlimited. Ashley started dancing at 2 ½ years old and has studied ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, and tap with numerous instructors nationwide. When she was younger, Ashley actively participated in the local dance community with Schaumburg High School Orchesis, Schaumburg on Stage, HOTT Productions, and most recently the Dansations. While completing her Bachelor of the Arts degree at Illinois State, Ashley continued her dance training and also diversified her experience by joining the hip hop group Black Diamonds Dance Troupe.

Ashley’s vibrant energy and creative ideas make every class fun. She truly has a passion for dance and loves sharing that passion with her students of all ages! This will be Ashley’s 12th year teaching and she is ecstatic to start another year as a part of the Dorothy’s family.


Pam Parchim (Acrobatics)

Pam has studied ballet since she was three years old, with additional studies in jazz, tap and tumbling. For many years she competed in tumbling and gymnastics and was a sectional qualifier for the floor exercise her senior year. Pam also choreographed many dance routines for her high school Orchesis dance team and choreographed and produced the America’s Junior Miss Program for the state of Illinois. She was the Director of Recreational Gymnastics at Northbrook Gymnastics Training Center and was assistant coach for the Maine West High School girls’ gymnastics team. Pam received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Carthage College and her Masters of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. Pam has been part of Dorothy’s Dancing Unlimited for 8 years and is passionate about her choreography, creating unique routines that have a theme and tell a story.
Aimee Russon (Ballet, Intro To Dance, Pre Pointe, Tap)

Aimee began her dance training in Cary, IL and continued her training at the Universty of Utah in Salt Lake City, receiving a BFA in modern dance. While attending the University of Utah she had the opportunity to perform works by Sidra Bell, Pamela Geber Handman, and works set by the Martha Graham dance company. While in Chicago, Aimee has participated in the numerous summer intensives and dance instructor trainings with CNADM and Bellamoxi.  Aimee has also had the pleasure of performing with the Modern Marvels dance company. With an immense passion for teaching, Aimee continues to teach ballet, modern, jazz, tap and creative movement to students around the Chicagoland area.

Jamie Swanson (Intro To Dance, Jazz)

Jamie grew up dancing at Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited. She studied all forms of dance but she likes tap the best! We are happy to have Jamie back at the studio as a teacher, sharing her love and enthusiasm for dance with a new generation of students!

Heather Talken (Jazz, Intro To Dance, Lyrical)

Heather began dancing at DOROTHY'S DANCING UNLIMITED when she was only three years old. She trained in ballet, jazz, pointe, tap, modern, lyrical, and ballroom. While attending Schaumburg High School, she successfully directed three years of the Orchesis program and helped expand the program to include all forms of dance. Heather went on to become a dance major at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1997. After college she took a short break to focus on a career in commercial real estate. In 2010 she rejoined the Dorothy's family and is incredibly excited to be a part of the faculty here. Heather has a renewed passion for dance and cannot wait to share this with all of her students.
